Orchid School Management System

In May 2014, we released Orchid, a School Management System ERP, and it was quite successful having been installed in more than 25 schools in West Bengal and Sikkim. Based on our experience and user feedback, we are in the process of developing Orchid version 2, scheduled to be released in the later half of 2017.

Orchid 2 Details

We always strive to improve our products to provide our users a better experience. We carefully studied the feedback we received from our users about Orchid 1, noted what they liked and what they didn't, what they found useful and what not so much and particularly what features and facilities they would have liked to have.
Based on this information, we started developing Orchid 2 to provide our users an better and easier way to do their work and experience a more satisfying experience with the software.

Orchid 2 has the following modules:

  3. Fee Management
  4. Hostel Management
  5. Personnel
  6. Leave Management
  7. Payroll
  8. Inventory Management
  9. Library
  10. Infirmary
  11. Security
The Personnel and Security modules are compulsory as they are related to the security of the data. The remaining modules are optional, though some modules require another module to be available (for example, the Academics module requires the Student Records from Student Administration).

Orchid 2 FAQ

Do I need to purchase any additional software or hardware for installing Orchid 2?
No. The software architecture is based on Open-Source Licence, as such all software required (to be provided by Ignited), can be used legally without any licence purchase required.
The application can be installed in any machine in which Windows XP or higher versions can be installed. The usual configuration should be Intel I5 or equivalent processor, 2 GB RAM and 10 GB of free Hard Disk Space. Of course, the better the machine configuration is (in terms of processor and RAM), the better the performance will be.
Do I need to pay any Annual Fee or Renewal Charges ?
We do not charge any Annual or Renewal Fee for the software. We have multiple payment plans to suit the different requirements of different schools. Kindly contact us for more details about the payment options.
What is the post-sales support that you provide ?
There is a free support period from the date of first installation. The support period depends on the number of modules taken. At the end of the free support period, the school has the option of taking an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) for continued support.
Is the support provided on-site or off-site ?
Usually the support is provided off-site, via phone, email and/or teamviewer connection. If the problem is not solved by off-site support, we may make an on-site visit to solve it.
How secure if the data from unauthorized access ?
Orchid 2 provides a 3-layer security to prevent unauthorized access to data.
First, the data is stored in a secure RDBMS that has inbuilt security features to prevent unauthorized access.
Second, Each User has to provide a valid Username and password to access the system. Passwords are stored in encrypted format so that they are not visible to anyone, even the system administrator.
Finally, Each User will have a privilege level for each module which defines what actions the user can perform in that module. If a user does not have any privilege in a module, he/she will not be able to access it.

Orchid 1 Details

Orchid is a browser-based application that can be run from any browser (Google Chrome recommended as the software has been optimized for Google Chrome). The application resides on a server (local for offline installation, web for online installation) and the clients connect to the software via network (LAN for offline and Internet for online). No installation is required in the client machines.
